About OrCAN

August 19, 2009

ImageThe Oregon College Access Network aims to serve as a one-stop shop for professionals working with potential college students interested in financial aid guidance, career counseling, college admission test preparation, scholarship information, or other college related programs. The network consists of a team of professionals throughout the state with specific education, training, experience, and knowledge in providing greater opportunities for Oregonians. We are program managers, scholarship administrators, financial aid professionals, youth mentors, workforce retraining specialists, and many others. We work for the common good of Oregon and its citizens to build college programs in the state. The network provides professionals the resources they need, in the area of the state in which they live, to aid individuals in the successful transition from high school, unemployment, or the workforce, into higher education. Join the network. Make valuable connections. Discover emerging promising-practices. Offer your experience. Improve your skill-set. Develop a better service.

An Open Letter to OrCAN Members

August 17, 2009

After two years of being incubated by the Oregon Student Assistance Commission, and being funded by the Educational Credit Management Corporation, OrCAN is now moving to its next step.  This past spring, an new leadership team was elected and we are actively working to create a non-profit organization.  This structure will allow us to effectively partner with a number of organizations and agencies who want to make college access a priority in Oregon.

On behalf of OrCAN, I want to thank the Oregon Student Assistance Commission and the Educational Credit Management Corporation for having a larger vision for Oregonians and a belief in the OrCAN organization.

I want to thank you for your continued support.  The OrCAN Leadership group looks forward to bringing you new resources and events this year.
